Things Change, but Here's A Little Throwback to Catmon

There are fine shores we'll keep coming back to, reminding us of all the happenings which transpired there. Yet also telling us of all the better things to come. That's home: the safe harbor where the things you left behind will still be waiting for you, no matter how long or where your travels may take you, it will always stay.

It could be within yourself, others, or a place, as long as it reminds you of who really are and all the things you love and hold dear.

Home.

It's been long since I've been home, back in Cebu. Palawan is beautiful and all, but I miss my family and my old friends. They remind me of who I really am, and they rekindle the little brittles I am deep inside.

But alas, college has made me stay here for the summer. Learning is fun and all, but I need my summer roadtrips and outings(even if they maybe near or far), and just plain 'ol doing nothing and not expecting much except a nice day I can spend watching TV, reading, drawing, or creating whatever. So, here's a little throwback to finer days, last summer of 2017.

This is what it's like to go to the north: open roads where you'll see quiet and calm beaches with only the wind to hear, and tons of laughter. The north feels like a new land, unconquerable and undiscovered except only for us. Maybe it reminds of our dreams.

we'll soar high, baby

This is us, imagining we are by the coast of Italy, sipping on some martinis. I don't even know what a martini tastes like, but yeah, we're living the dream.

Sooooo, it's been long(as always). I always regret all these long pauses between writing; it honestly really bums me out when I can't get content out there. Aside from this, not writing for a long time makes me feel like I've become rusty. Surely, I have. But I've been busy being a lazy girl in college and fighting the slew of mental illnesses that have just appeared or resurfaced. I plan on talking about those things on my youtube channel: the wilderbritt. And heeeey, while we're on the topic of my youtube name, which is also my new blog name, lemme tell you about that...

In the next blogpost! Haha :P
See you next time, wildlings and critters of the forest!
A Brittle Bird is brittle no more!

Making it Worth it

This post right now happened two months ago. The newspaper club I'm a part of went on a seminar held by this kind of organization thing-- I dunno, I think they're still starting out. Anyways, what they did was they let us have the chance to listen to big time people in the field of journalism; people already famous on local T.V. news programs, newspaper editors and the like. These people imparted their knowledge to us, they even exerted their time and energy to make visual aids in the form of power point presentations and did a compilation of their own video footage to show us. After these media personalities spoke, they gave us the chance to ask questions and I sure as heck jumped on that opportunity right away! Like, even though I'm a radio broadcaster in our club, I asked the speakers of Feature Writing, Editorials, and others questions about that particular field. I'm sure some people must have been pissed that I had the courage to ask a question everytime, but it was only the sheer will to make the most of the money that I spent on this seminar driving me. I mean, we spent a lot! And for me to just sit there and be passive is not an example of making it worth it, so every chance I got, I made it worth it. See where I'm coming from?

After all the questioning and the answering, we moved next to the on the spot contest. In each category like Feature Writing or Editorial Writing or Broadcasting, there would be a contest held that either the students who are under that category and the students not a part of it can join. Of course, I joined each contest for the slightest assurance to at least win one(but I didn't---oh well, least I tried to make my effort worth it).

Later, while on the bus to our way home, we took some photos. One of my friends complained that the lighting on my side was good and he said he'd sit by the window next time. Haha.

Here's the video of that experience :D Enjoy!

That Vintage Dress and Sunsets

My friend, Dianne, came over to my house last saturday and helped me film a video for youtube. On that very same day, an event was happening at school: the PE Festival. I think I'll post some pictures of that on my next blogpost. But for now, enjoy the pictures of this one. We had a fun time capturing the bursting colors of the sunset.

After filming, we went to McDonalds to enjoy our dinner. And after that, we finally went to our school and we were so late! But anyways, we still made it.
When all the commotion was done, I headed back to my house and took a break.
I hope you enjoy your weekends!

A Bookworm in Her Natural Habitat

I love reading. I want to dig my nose deep into the worlds of characters and get lost in the fantasy which I would much rather prefer to than our reality. But of course, those "better" worlds only live within the confines of a book. That's why I have come to the realization that books are like prisons. Not only do they hold the characters as prisoners, but also the readers. Because, honestly-- as a person with not much excitement going on in her life-- I feel like once I start reading an epic story with lots of twists and thrilling bits, I start feeling like a prisoner in my world, thinking, "why is our boring world the only one that exists?" There should be alternate worlds you can step into. Just like in the Lego Movie. That movie was just literally awesome. I can't even. I just can't.

But you know, it probably isn't the world who's boring. It's you. You could go out right now and start living a spontaneous life, but instead you're sitting there reading this. Don't get me wrong, I know how tiring it is to live an amazing life, that's why you and I would much rather sit and work on a blog. But I'd like to see you at least try to put yourself out there and do something crazy. Sitting around and reading books for the duration of your teen years is a waste because you can read all you want and be boring when you're older(Alaska Young philosophy). But I really do appreciate you reading this. Really.

Aside from reading, another thing that I really love is my hair. I used to really hate the way my hair was curly and messy but now I can see that curly-haired girls are really beautiful to look at. Their hair tells their story. Their hair's a mess, just like they are. It's also wild-- just like they are. And it's uncontrollable, just like me. I'd like to be described all those things, because, like I said, who would want to be boring?

These pictures were taken the same day my friends came over to my house to do a collab for youtube. Yes, we're small youtubers. And not that proud of it, yet. Some people think that we're weird because anywhere we go, we talk to a camera and document anything we do. I guess they're just not used to it. Neither are we. But we try.

So that's it. These clips were from my good friend, Larlo. Follow him at Larloo. He's a great photographer and cinematographer. This is the video he made from this:
